Thesis Statement
On February 19, 1942 President Roosevelt signed a very important document that would forever be remembered in U.S. history, this was the executive order 9066 What this document allowed for and why it was so important was that it took away some of the rights of American people with Japanese ancestry. The reason this document was made and put into action was that on December 7, 1941, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. This event sparked all kinds of racial tension. So throughout the following month or so the Japanese people who were currently living in America and their children who were actually U.S. citizens were taken to relocation camps to stay there for 4 years even when it was the government's responsibility to protect all people currently living in the U.S. and especially the U.S. citizens even if they were of Japanese descent. It is also the government's responsibility to not incarcerate anybody without due process. So that is why this topic relates to the theme rights and responsibilities.
